Spring Play rehearsals are well underway now and performance dates are coming quickly! We need your help during the Spring Play.  Your time, talent and support of our program is valued so much. Please look for an email soon that will include sign ups for volunteering (using Sign-Up Genius). 

Here are a few examples of some of the upcoming volunteer opportunities.

  • Snack Brigade

    • STAAR provides snacks/food to the students on long rehearsal days closer to the production

  • Concessions and STAARgrams

    • Will need volunteers to help sell concessions during performances/intermissions

    • STAARgrams are handwritten message of support to the cast and crew members

Spring Play Show Shirts

The design for the Spring Play show shirts is in process. Please look for an email with a link to order a shirt coming VERY SOON! We will have different options available for this again. Choose from basic t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, hooded sweatshirt and crewneck sweatshirt. 

Rogers Theatre Apparel

We are excited to have a new vendor for our RHS Theatre Apparel this spring! Lots of options!  The shop has a closing date/deadline of Sunday, March 16, 2025 (11:59 PM CDT)

Directions for ordering are on the store website. Here are a few notes about ordering. Please note that the apparel customization process begins after the store has closed and typically takes 2-3 weeks to complete. If ordering for a student, please put their name in the Student/Player name section while checking out. LATE ORDERS (after store closes) will be charged a $15 late fee. And lastly, items ordered on this site are custom made and therefore all sales are final.

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Spring Play Parent/Guardian Meeting for Our Town. We’re looking forward to supporting another fun production! We have included the notes from the slideshow presented by Mr. Fossum and Austin Adler, contact information, important dates, as well as information from STAAR.

STAAR (Student Theatrical Arts Association of Rogers - Booster Club)

What is STAAR? We are a parent-led volunteer group that supports the theater program at Rogers High School in many ways.  We assist the Creative Team by getting volunteers, raising funds, generating community support, advertising, etc.  You can think of us as the theater booster club and we would love to have your support!

Happy New Year from the STAAR Board members! We hope you had a fantastic holiday season! Just a few quick notes.

One Act Play - Show Shirts (JAN 6th ORDER DEADLINE)

Show shirts are ready! Please order your show shirt before January 6, 2025. The store will close at 11:59pm on the 6th. There are a few options available this year! Students may choose a short sleeve t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, crew neck sweatshirt, or hoodie. When choosing the “Delivery” option, please choose the “Pickup At POOKY AND BELL” option. All orders will be sent and distributed together. Again, please order before 1/6/2025!

Thank you to all who attended the Open STAAR Board Meeting last Thursday at Davanni’s! We had a lot of good discussions and it was fun to get to know people! Our next meeting will be January 7 at 6:30pm at Missy Nelson’s house (president of STAAR and Jed’s mom). Everyone is welcome! If you would like an invite sent to you, please let us know. We have tentative meetings scheduled (locations to be determined).

We Need A Volunteer With A Truck

We are still looking for a parent/family volunteer to tow the band trailer to subsections and sections for the One Act Play. You don’t need to be a One Act Play parent to volunteer. Please reach out if you have a truck and could donate your time. We have a hitch for the larger trailer that we can use, just not the truck.

Our Musical Director, Cyndy Gauthier, has the flash drives. If you haven’t received your flash drive, please check with your student so they can coordinate pickup from Cyndy Gauthier.

Upcoming STAAR Board Meeting

The next board meeting will take place on Thursday, December 5th at 6pm at Davanni’s in Rogers and we want you to attend! Everyone is welcome! This will be a casual meeting to discuss who and what STAAR is, meet the Creative Team (directors), meet some student Drama Club officers, and meet other families! 

You don’t need to be a board member to come to the meeting. We want you to feel welcome and get to know other people who have the same goals for their kiddos as you do. Come enjoy some pizza and see what STAAR is all about. Please reach out if you have questions!

Give to the Max Day takes place TOMORROW, Thursday, Nov. 21!

But you don’t have to wait until tomorrow to donate, early donating is open! STAAR needs your support. STAAR (Student Theatrical Arts Association of Rogers) supports the development and sustained growth of the Rogers High School Theater Department. This is a great opportunity to give to an organization that your student is passionate about. Our goal this year is to raise more than $1500. That means each student needs to raise $20 in order to help us reach our goal.

Pictures of the Company were taken on 11/6 and there have been requests to purchase access to the photos. Yard Signs

The yard signs around the community were collected last week, but if you happen to see a lingering sign, please grab it and throw it away. We would greatly appreciate your help! Initially we wanted the metal stakes to be returned for reuse, however, we’ve noticed the quality this year hasn’t been great. So we’ve changed our minds. You can either keep them for future use or throw them away.

Newsletter: 11/11/24

What a show! What a weekend! We had great numbers in the PAC and Saturday afternoon we PACKED the PAC with a sold out show!! Congratulations to the entire Company! And thank you to parents, families, and friends who supported RHS Theatre!! As we wrap up the Fall Musical, we want to make sure you know what’s next!

STAAR Board Meeting

The next board meeting will take place on Thursday, December 5th at 6pm at Davanni’s in Rogers and we want you to attend! Everyone is welcome!

Musical Pictures: 11/5/24

Parents/Guardians,

Professional pictures will be taken of the entire Company (cast, crew, and pit) on 11/6!! Please remind your student to return any wigs/costumes/props that were taken home for "cleaning" purposes, to school tomorrow. 

Also, the Rose Bundle is still available if you would like access to the pictures and a video copy of the performance on a flash drive!

Strike Help 11/4/24

What a weekend!! You all have very talented kiddos and it was so fun to see them shining! 

The last show is Saturday, November 9. After the show, the students are all required to help STRIKE (take down the set, clean up, etc). It's a huge undertaking this year with such an elaborate, beautiful set and we need your help! 

We're looking for parents/guardians to bring their drills and help tear down the castle after the show. We also need someone to help transport things to our storage unit.

Newsletter: 10/23/24

Opening weekend is fast approaching! A few updates and reminders leading up to show week.

Royal-Tea Party: Sunday, 10/27 2pm-4pm

Students involved should plan to meet at the school ~1pm to get dressed in costume. If they are helping out but not in costume, please remind them to wear their show shirts!! Looking forward to a fun afternoon!

“Be Our Guest” Student Event, 10/27 4pm-6pm

The RHS cast/crew is hosting STMA theater at the RAC on Sunday, Oct 27 for a gathering/potluck. The Drama Club officers have a couple requests. Please remind your students to sign up to bring a dish to share. Also, students are planning to play board and/or card games, so if your kiddo is attending the event, ask them to bring a fun game!

Parent Preview Night (10/30/24), STAAR-Grams and Rose Bundles

Wednesday October 30 at 6:30pm is Parent Preview Night! Come and get a first look at what your actor/crew member has been up to the last few months!

We will also have the Rose Bundle available for purchase at Parent Preview Night. We will also have light-up roses to interact with the show for purchase and STAAR-Grams, too! STAAR-Grams are sold at each show and provide a creative way to help recognize your “STAR”. 

Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer! We know your time is valuable and we appreciate you giving that time/talent to support your actor/crew member! 

If you've volunteered to help with a show, please check in at Concessions to connect with a Front of House Manager when you arrive at the PAC. You will receive a lanyard indicating you are a volunteer and a reserved place to sit during the show. 

Fundraising

Don't forget about the calendar fundraiser! If you've collected money, you can send it to STAAR via cash, check, PayPal or Square. Reach out if you need help navigating any of those options. We want it to be easy for you!

Company Party 

The actors and crew will celebrate all their show successes on Sunday, November 10th at the RAC! This party is to celebrate the entire company, including tech and pit members!! We are ordering food for dinner and hoping to get a few more RSVPs in. Check with your student to see if they submitted their RSVP!

Rockwoods Fundraising Night

Tuesday, September 10th, is our RHS Theatre Fundraising Night at Rockwoods in Otsego. From 6pm-9pm, 10% of all sales will be donated to STAAR to benefit your kiddos. This is for dine-in only and reservations can be made, if you’d like, at www.rockwoodsmn .The flyer is included in this email, please, please share on your social media and with family and friends! We’re looking forward to a busy night at Rockwoods.

Hello!

Thank you so much to all those who attended the Parent Information Night for our Fall Musical last night! If you were unable to attend and have questions, please reach out to STAAR at this email address! And if you were there and still have questions, please ask!! There was a lot of information covered and we understand that can feel overwhelming. 

In this email, please find the slideshow presented last night, the informational flier for our Rockwoods Fundraising night (happening Sept 10th), and the fundraising calendar introduced last night (you can start that anytime!). Without this fundraising, our program wouldn’t be where it is today. Our kiddos need our help!

On that note, we’d like to invite you to attend our next Board Meeting next Wednesday, Sept 4th at 6:30pm. This meeting will be held virtually and is open to anyone wanting to be more involved with STAAR. As we mentioned last night, 4 of 5 board members have seniors and we need to fill those positions. We aren’t looking for a commitment if you don’t feel ready yet, but come to the meetings, listen, and learn what we do and how much fun we have. We need you! Lastly, we communicate in many different ways to make sure the cast, crew, and their families get all the information needed.
